the problem:

for the past few weeks i have been encoding dvds with ogmrip. everything was working fine until a few days ago. with no changes to my knowledge - when i load a dvd structure from my hard drive - it loads, but the crop window reveals NO video whatsoever. if i go ahead with the encoding, it stops and i get an error.

FURTHERMORE...

both ogmrip, k9copy, and thoggen have become memory hogs and ultimately quit or do not respond when they try to read dvds - which makes me think it may be a hardware problem of some kind. yet handbrake works fine - it reads and encodes - though the output is somewhat glitchy which is why i prefer ogmrip. libdvdccs is installed and i can play dvds fine with vlc player.

i have no clue what's going on.

IDEAS ANYONE??
