I had an idea earlier today to (after I fix it) hook my desktop into the home network and stream gameplay with my home wireless G network to my laptop so I can take advantage of the desktop's superior hardware and my laptop's ability to be used my comfortable armchair. Any idea how I'd go about doing this? And more importantly, would the lag be acceptable?

I know pulseaudio would be able to share sound with a network, however I am unsure about using something like VNC, which probably would not work with 3d.

Hm, I didn't think I'd have to get third party software at all; there's a remote desktop thing under system>preferences

The screen sharing application in Ubuntu uses VNC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vnc

To my experience it works great for 2d, though results may vary for 3d.
