View Full Version : [ubuntu] Per user permissions on folder shares

I'm using Ubuntu Desktop 10.04 32-bit as my home server (and I'm starting to regret it 'cause it's mega buggy) and I'm having an issue assigning permissions to other users on a shared drive.

I administer the system using the user that was created during the Ubuntu system installation. I have an NTFS USB drive attached and the entire drive is shared. I want to add another user to the system and assign them specific permissions to the share, so I created a user using the Users and Groups control panel. The problem is that when I click on the shared folder's Permissions tab and select the user or group, the selection reverts back to the original. It just doesn't let me choose anything other than the currently selected user.

Another weird thing I noticed is when I log in user the newly added user (leaving the main user logged in), I can't see the USB drive at all!

How can I define per user permissions with this setup?
