I am trying to install Lucid Lynx from a flahs drive. I formatted it so there were no old files on it (used to have 9.10 which I successfully installed from it). I made sure the bios was set right- boot from flash. I have Lucid Lynx on it yet when I reboot the computer (flash drive is plugged in) it will not boot from flash and start installing the new distro, it just keeps going back to show me the screen for 9.10 (no gui just asks for a username and password which I have forgotten lol. What am I dooing wrong please. thanks

Did you follow the info on this wiki?

https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/installation-guide/i386/boot-usb-files.html

it is not clear from your post whether you are trying to create a Live USB install to use to install on other computers (like a LiveCD) or if you have tried to 'install' Ubuntu to the Flash drive and boot from it.

Update:
Did you use this method?

Thank you Zimmer I will check it out. I am just trying to use my flash drive to install on one computer as it doesn't have a working dvd drive.
