To grant printer permissions, should you use the chown command or chmod?

Thanks

Chmod, I guess, but neither chmod nor chown is printer specific, so it depends.

Is there a better way to do it? I installed the driver, but it won't print so I think it needs the permissions set.

And why would you think that? Are there permission related errors?
You'd help helping you by revealing the printer model, unless of cause, it's a secret.

Dexter Fox: Thank you. I will take your suggestions.

Mikewhatever: No, it isn't a secret, I was attempting to be brief. It is a Lexmark s605 and Ubuntu 9.10. I installed the driver (presumably successfully) but it will not print. If you are inclined to assist without verbally accosting me, I appreciate it. If not, I understand.

Thank you
