View Full Version : [ubuntu] ATI Radeon Xpress 200M 3D acceleration support

I have searched for a while but I can't find any info for the ATI 200M. I'm using the free (libre) driver. I've been able to run Nexuiz with it, but only when I turned all the settings to low (otherwise it looked really weird, but it ran). I'm now trying to run Half-Life 2 using Wine, but it crashes a lot. Simple programs like glxgears run without any problems.

I've tried to use the proprietary driver (fglrx), but it's Windows-only for the 200M.

Is there any way I can make it work better?

Have you ever experienced better performance from this card?

Seems quite slow. The open driver have some issues, but i'm pretty sure it's all there is.

What about trying some more demanding native 3D like extreme tux racer?

Seems quite slow.

I don't need it to run fast, I just need it to run without crashing and without horrible visual artifacts. Nexuiz now works, but I can't run HL2 without it crashing predictably.

Same card, probably the same kind of problem.
Except that none of the game needing the 3D acceleration are running.

Nexuiz, extreme tux and even freedroid (2D iso).

Cannot find the file to tweak or custom the driver config.
I've got also the bug with google earth describe here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=147504 (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1475045)5
Wonder if it's related...
