Hi

I have jsut moved to 10.04 LTS and need to add PPA to my /etc/modules file to enable a parallel port Zip drive.

I have fired up a terminal and keyed the following:

sudo gedit /etc/modules

Which opens gedit as root but the file is blank (I was at least expecting some # narratvie even if there is no active code)

I have not edited yet wanted to check if this had changed in 10.04 before creating this

Cheers
Jason

NB: I also went via gksu nautilus and ticked the vew hidden files tab to see if I could access it via this method and gain no folder titled modules in the /etc direcotory)

My /etc/modules on 10.04 looks like this..

# /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time.
#
# This file contains the names of kernel modules that should be loaded
# at boot time, one per line. Lines beginning with "#" are ignored.

loop
lp

According to this page (http://souta95.blogspot.com/2009/10/lpt-parallel-port-zip-drives-and-ubuntu.html) newer zip drives use imm module & older ones ppa, both have to be loaded before the lp module.

I would suggest, if not already done so, you try loading the modules manually first.
