Ladies and Gentlemens,

I am very pleased to tell all of you good news that at this forum, maybe not everyone knows.

The Debian Project was officially founded by Ian Murdock on August 16th, 1993. Thus, the project celebrates its 17th birthday!

Please congratulate developers on site http://thank.debian.net/, they will be very happy! And don't forget that is this Debian GNU/Linux project made possible the existence of Ubuntu.

According to DistroWatch, Debian currently enjoys more than 120 derivatives include such influential as CrunchBang Linux, Damn Small Linux, grml, Knoppix, Maemo, Ubuntu, Untangle and others. Thus, the Debian Project contributes to the popularity of Linux and it plays an very important role in the growth of Linux community around the world.

Also, I myself use Debian, which follows from my signature :) This was my first Linux, and it remains so for three years now.
