Howdy howdy

Running Lucid but am stuck on an issue regarding Gnome and the appearance settings. Sometimes when I start up all my appearance preferences reset themselves and all windows borders, desktop, panels, window toolbars and icons change to the default, instead of the spanky Meliae White icons I run.

I can fix the panels by bringing up the system / appearance which seems to remind ubuntu how I want it to look and the panels change, then the windows borders can be sorted with Alt F2 and metacity --replace.

But that still leaves the desktop, windows toolbars and all icons in that default setting.

As I said, it doesn't happen all the time, but about 1 in 3 start ups. Is there another bit of code trickery to fix these up (like metacity --replace), or better yet, is there someway to diagnose this appearance problem so it doesn't happen again?

I'm sure I could be clearer and I apologise if I don't make sense.
