I have been away from ubunto for a while however i am getting ready to return to dual boot setup with w-7 / ubuntu 10.4. I have an old ubuntu 9.10 CD i burned back in oct '09. Can i install from this and upgrade to 10.4 from there. Or will i need to D/L and burn 10.4 from the beginning ?

My recommendation is to just download the newest version and install from that. It will be faster and less issues involved.

Yes, you can.

But given the upgrade will mean downloading almost as much data as downloading 10.04 itself, it might be worth getting the new version and then you have the CD if you ever need it again.

If you can wait a few days, 10.04.1 is due for release, which includes all updates since 10.04 was released.

Thank you i will hold up on this and wait for 10.04.1 to roll out.

It is due on the 17th. I have seen posts mentioning the 19th, but in any event should be soon.
