1015PE internal microphone not working

I have recently put Ubuntu 10.4 Netbook Remix on my Asus 1015PE. Everything except the internal microphone and the external headphones socket seems to be working fine.

I am sure that the internal microphone functions, as it works when booted in Windows 7.

I have found and (unanswered) post of another user that when they plug headphones into the socket sound stops comes from the internal speakers as expected, but no sound comes from the headphones.

hi, I don't know if this'll help, but my microphone volume was turned down on a fresh install, i thought mine wasn't working until i found it was turned all the way down :? lol


goto system preferences then input tab and make sure its turned up.

I wish it was as simple. The microphone volume is not set to mute or a low level.

Ditto on the problem. I bought this netbook for easy traveling overseas, but will be bummed if I'm not able to skype.

In my case the problem solved itself after updating a couple of weeks back.
