ubuntu 10.04 install stuck step 3 of 7 keyboard layout

I have acer aspire one netbook i'm using ubuntu 10.04 on my desktop but i wan't to install ubuntu on the netbook. i made usb installer ubuntu will run from the usb drive but when i try to install it gets stuck on step 3 of 7. wth? tried over and over again

Seems to be a fairly common problem for some folks unfortunately. This thread suggests changing the layout http://ubuntu-virginia.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9572451 which might work for you, then you can change it again after the installation has completed.

I had the exact same problem installing from a usb stick to an ASUS 1000HE.

This thread suggested the issue could be resolved by trying a different usb stick:

I used a different usb drive - a 2gb SD card actually - and the install worked no problem

The first USB stick I used was a Verbatim 4GB unit - didn't work
The SD card was an HP 2GB unit - did work.
