Nouveau kernel source in ubuntu lucid 10.04

Hi all,
I am solely using ubuntu OS on Lenovo IBM, 3000 N200 laptop. i ugraded from 9.04 to 9.10 that reduced my laptop to be a snail later i upgraded again to 10.04 Lucid that am current using. On booting, the computer takes too long to boot. I am always receiving a crash report that my nouveau-kernel source package are not available. On daily updates i receive ''nouveau kernel post installation error status 3.

Have you tried a clean install rather than an upgrade? There have been a lot of changes to the Nvidia drivers, which makes an upgrade even risiker than before.

Thanks for the response. which is the other way to solve the problem. Am not ready to do a fresh installation. Is it a problem with nVidia drivers?
