Create Mash-up songs

Hey still finding myself with way too much time on my hands (even with playing SC2) and wanted to get into making mash-up songs just for fun of it. Was wondering if anyone in the community did something similar on Ubuntu and what software they used.

What's the difficulty level in a project such as this? (I have very little experience with music editing)

I used audacity when messing with music. It was not the proper tool to use but it worked. Very difficult at the time.
