Do you mean you're going to make the case out of lego? I believe it's been done before and there's risks of the plastic melting, though don't quote me on that.

THE plastic will not melt and I know it has been done before.

At MIT they built an computer out of tinkertoys (http://www.retrothing.com/2006/12/the_tinkertoy_c.html). And not just a case :).

do you think I can do it with 800 1X4 + own lego collection?

This is actually a really fun idea! I'm definitely going to try something like this the next time I have a bit of time on my hands. :D

I am not sure 800 1x4 lego bricks will enough for a pc case. I guess it depends on how big the computer parts are.

But I wish you the best of luck, your going to have to make room for the ports ect.

Probably best to put the PSU at the top of the case rather than the bottom, because of structure strength.

Would be interesting to see the on button in action.

P.S I know it's possible, there have been people on here that have made cases out of lego.

In fact there's another thread about this exact idea further down on this very forum page:

what is psu.

Power supply unit.
The box that supply's the power to the rest of the computer

A computer made of legos sounds like an intriguing project. Is it just the case you are making out of legos? What is the plan?

coolman98
August 17th, 2010, 11:40 PM
I build a tower and then put the parts in.

Awesome. I would make my case out of that, but I've already told my father's cousin's business to get a transparent case, and I don't want to tell them after they find one I don't need it.
