Pigs and Taters. One could live off them exclusively.
Probably has nothing to do with your link, which I didn't follow since I don't do facebook.

There was a discussion on facebook as follows (in jest):
Principle: Pork is to meat, as cheese is to dairy. I'm not sure whether this statement is representative of a point of logic, or if it can be construed merely as metaphor. Anyway, it was on the ACT. The main message to be conveyed is that pork is wildly versatile (bacon, pork, ham, pork sausage, etc), as is cheese (cheddar, swiss, gouda, etc.) and each is of intense variation in flavor. Ham, for example, tastes almost nothing like roast pork. Discuss

Cheese is a product derived from milk using cultures of bacteria to create individual types of cheese.
Pork is just meat, and hopefully it doesn't still have any cultures of bacteria in it when I eat it.
Soybeans are the cheese of meat. :)

What is wrong with soy protein? I can bet it tastes similar if properly treated.
however this is off-topic.
It is a very good comparison, considering that soy tastes different from meat, and cheese tastes different from milk. soy proteins are very versatile, as is cheese.

Bad, bad, bad analogy. If that was supposed to be the correct analogy on an ACT test, I weep for our future when our test makers make tests that are so egregiously flawed.
Pork is to meat as goat's milk is to dairy is a better analogy. Meat is the flesh (or muscle) of an animal, pork is the flesh of a specific animal. Dairy is the milk (or milk product) of an animal and goat's milk is the milk of a specific animal. (We'll leave eggs out of the discussion for now.)
Now, if we start at the back end of the analogy, "as cheese is to dairy," then a more accurate start would be "Jerky is to meat." Cheese is cultured milk, but there are many types of milk to make cheese and many different cultures. Jerky is dried, seasoned meat, but you can use many types of meat and many different seasonings.

Cheese is a processed product. Pork is not processed.Spam, ham loaf, souse, bologna, hot dogs, sausage, bacon, etc. ;)
But I still agree that it was a bad comparison.
Why did I go to the thread if I'm vegetarian? <.<Because we briefly discussed soy beans. :)

Oh, and the analogy really falls apart when one considers head cheese (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_cheese).

The comparison was meant to be between the versatility of each product, not a whole lot more. ;)
