Any Good ideas on how to stop malware from getting on a click happy user. They have Antivirus, spybot search and destroy, and a firewall, besides unplugging the internet cable any good ideas on how to stop this 0_0 (feel free to rant)

That's an odd question to ask to an Ubuntu forum. I think I would either use AD permissions to limit the users ability to install anything, or use the User Controls, and limit the user to a user only, and not an Admin. Also, he/she should be using a browser other than IE.

Finally, remove the junk with malwarebytes, and run good anti-virus.

Is the malware already on the computer? What OS is it?

+1 for ubuntu install, but most people have some Windows only app that they "can't" live without.

Break their fingers.

All of them.

Twice.

Or you could chown their mouse/remove executable permissions by piping it into screwdriver.

You really should ask Windows questions on a Windows forum.

Yeah really. The only reason I keep around an old Windows XP HDD is because it is worth money.:p:D

I have found the best method is don't just "do for them" but "educate". If you just add Apps to remove and block Malware etc without educating about Malware then you are "click happy" as well.

This ^
but after they heal, educate them, and as an interim measure (permanent maybe?) stick them on firefox with noscript and adblock plus.

Antivirus - Avast or Avira or Microsoft Security Essentials or Comodo Internet Security - all 4 work phenomenal and have great antivirus and antispyware capabilities built in and all 4 are free.

Secondary Antispyware - MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware.

Firewall - Comodo Firewall (Free comes with Internet Security which is free too).

Install Firefox and AdBlock

And noscript, noscript will help immensely.

Run their acct from a virtual machine. If they break it, it's a simple matter of replacing the image (copying a file).

Set them up as a guest user. After that, charge them $1000 per visit. They'll get the picture quickly.

I can see this (http://khour.ir/digital/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/linux-kernel-panic-under-qemu.jpg) happening in a few days if they are 'click happy'.

firefox + noscript + adblock + extrafasterfox(why not?)
zonealarm
bitdefender
malwarebytes
auslggics defrag, ccleaner (degragging and cleaning junk files will make the scans faster)

explain the risks of click happiness maybe? in addition to the noscript and removing most user privileges.

Nice list, but I can't say I agree on it and here's why:
Zone Alarm - I've had it cause tons of problems with connectivity to the internet where the only way to fix it is uninstall it.
BitDefender - Great program, but to get on-access protection, you have to pay for it, the free version is just an on-demand scanner.
CCleaner - Great software, love it, but for a more automated solution, IOBit Advanced SystemCare Free works wonders, one click for scan/fix.

Auslogics - Love that defragmentation program it's the best out there.

http://www.techsupportalert.com/ - best freeware software picks for Windows.
http://ssupdater.com/ - best place to find independent tests of malware, spyware, and virus scanners
http://av-comparatives.org/ - another great independent tests of scanners.

thanks for the links, looks like its time to upgrade my portable windows toolkit now that I've been hired "as needed" to repair the local library's computers ( honestly, their problem is that they have 6 different anti-malware programs, but no antivirus, they're all 50 - 90 years old, and they call that "other browser" 'foxfire')

Foxfire haha, they are click happy, if they click too fast to read firefox and read it as foxfire yeah... And I thought Library people were supposed to be smart people.

Don't do anything. I've got so sick of people asking me to fix their windows boxes that, these days, I point blank refuse. I tell them straight up that I'll happily install linux, I'll even create a dual boot system for them and help them get it set up and even provide some support but I will not, under any circumstances, touch a windows install. They're more trouble than they're worth and I, for one, spend enough time pandering to users that are only barely computer literate at work as it is.

I wholeheartedly agree. I used to run a computer recovery and repair business for WinDeath machines, but only support Linux installations now.

It really is tiresome when you have to deal with computer-illiterate users (especially click-happy teens whose social lives drive them to install malware-infested messaging and media clients, or dirty old men who constantly download porn!) or, worse, when all of your friends and family expect a free job for them all of the time. Professional techs hate either situation. [-X

...And they never seem even to want to learn!

breaking their fingers unfortunatly is not an option :( . And it's really hard to educate someone who has been told again and again and again.... they refuse to use anything but IE (doh). it's their computer so no special lan's or virtual machines. haven't asked about a sandbox, never thought about it because vista and 7 have been updated for security (which stops most all sandbox programs)... Basically I'm just tired of Dumb Windows Users, and it sounds like i'm not the only one.

Windows is like a house The Front Door can have many locks but because the windows have no glass anything can crawl in

So don't pander to them. If they refuse to learn or take any positive steps to protect their system then they and they alone are culpable for it going horribly wrong. Let them rot in silicon hell for their willful ignorance.
