Hi,

When looking at settings in download manager there is the option "download all updates in the background". I've 2 questions about this:

- will the updates only be downloaded or also automatically installed?
- what exactly is meant by '... in the background'?

I also wonder if it is recommended to install 'unsupported updates (lucid backports), what exactly are these unsupported updates?

Tx for your help, cozze

Backports are not officially supported afaik - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu

Updates downloaded in the background are downloaded without any intervention on your part - once downloaded the update manager will tell you there are updates available.

The updates will be downloaded only, as the message says. 'In the background' in this case means without notifying or prompting for confirmation.
