Scaled Display for Network Monitor

I have the network monitor (part of the system monitor applets) displayed on my panel. Is there any way I can configure it to show scaled download or upload speeds (e.g. as a percentage of 500KBps) instead of the absolute values it shows by default ?

Are there any alternatives available which does the same ?
