How to make desktop like it was

I have been using compiz to make different wallpapers in each workspace, but I want the ability to put things back on my desktop and right click capabilities. I have turned off that particular function of compiz, and turned the "show desktop" function back on, but it does not seem to have any effect on what I want to happen. How do I make things like they were before I attempted to pimp my workspaces?
