Problem using apt-get

I supposedly installed two different programs using apt-get and neither show up. I did a search in my file system and nothings there, is it normal for apt-get to say it's installed a program which it hasn't.

What programs? Not all of them will create a menu entry.

Thanks for the quick reply. OK the first program now shows up, maybe I just needed to restart the computer. The second can be accessed through a terminal (its called “yafray”) but still doesn't show up when I search my root folder file system, but as you say some programs don't show up.

Just type yafray in a terminal (or in the Alt-F2 dialog if it's a graphical program) and it should start.
