View Full Version : [ubuntu] Graphics crashes

August 6th, 2010, 05:31 PM
I am completely new to linux but I got it installed and it boots up great. (Way faster than windoze) The problem I have is that suddenly the screen will go black. I found out that if I unplug my monitor and plug it back in a screen will come up that says:

Ubuntu is running in low graphics mode.

The following error was encountered. You may need
to update your configuration to solve this.

I clicked ok and it gives the following options:
Run in low graphics for one session
Restart x
Exit to console login

I think there was at least one other option but I forgot it
If you click "Run in low graphics for one session" the screen goes black again and unplugging the monitor doesn't help. Also the power button doesn't work either.
I think restart x does the same thing
Exit to console login works but I don't know how to login from there.
So in short every time this happens I have to restart my computer.
Can anyone help please?
