Hello,

I've used Ubuntu for a while, but wanted to use it on my windows laptop via Windows Virtual PC. However, it won't let me install it. I downloaded the iso for the 10.04 server edition. I've tried setting the commang vga=788 that I found online, but it doesn't seem to work... I couldn't seem to find the option for a safe graphics install (people tend to say F4). Any help would be appreciated.

There are a few tips here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Virtual_PC
A mention is made of installing Ubuntu 8.04 in safe mode.

It is also clear that MS don't support linux in their Virtual PC (no surprise there ;)) so you may have more luck using Oracle's VirtualBox, which is free and you can install on Windows.

Yeah that worked a lot better. It installed with no problems. Windows Virtual PC was on my system, so I thought I would just use it....Oracle's VM VirtualBox is much better. Thanks for the tip!

Use VirtualBox, Virtual PC is rubbish. :)

I've also used VMWare - the free one - and it was very easy to use - only 5 steps.
