View Full Version : [SOLVED] drivers (wireless)

Just installed 10.04, doing the update now but I was just wondering if the new version will know where to find and install all the drivers provided the hardware is not that new? Main thing I'm concerned about is my built-in wireless adapter on an Acer notebook, the BCM94311MCG.

If not, will instructions from an older version work? I did find posts on this adapter but it was for a distro several versions back.

BTW in choosing a prefix here I see there is a mobile version which is probably what I should have gone with. Should I download that or is there a better way to deal with it since I already installed the standard version?

Okay I've installed/activated the Broadcom driver, and it worked but then stopped after I restarted the system - and it shows as being connected. The wired connection works, and nothing at all works with wireless including web and email browsers and it can't download new software either. Even after I power down it's the same.

Any ideas?
