I am currently using an ubuntu live CD, and I am trying to install extundelete. - http://extundelete.sourceforge.net/

I have never used a compiler or whatever I need to do, and I am pretty confused. I would be really grateful if someone could explain how to install it. Please bear in mind I am pretty new to linux, so you probably will have to explain it in simple terms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Did you read the documentation "How to compile and install extundelete"?

Let's back up in the story here....why are you booting with a live CD trying to install an undelete program? Maybe there is an alternative if we had some facts.

Here's the .deb pkg (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=47360)

I am trying to recover my whole ubuntu partition which was using ext4. When I use the .deb you have linked above it says "Error: Wrong architecture 'armel'" on the package installer. I have read the documentation, but I have no experience using compilers or anything.

I am trying to recover my whole ubuntu partition which was using ext4. Do you mean you can't access or you re-installed over it.If you can give us the exact scenario we can probably help without all this software installation. If you want to compile, check to see if you have all tools needed, make yourself a folder to do all your operations in. Open a terminal in that folder and follow the instructions.Anything that errors you will be told....not a problem....if you can't figure out the next step come here and we'll help.
