Why was this thread about Gnome becoming an OS (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1543753&page=7) closed just because of one post? It was a pretty informative thread with a good discussion, until it got shut down for one post. It seems like usually, an offending post gets edited by a moderator, and we get at least one warning before they just get shut down.

That seemed like a decent thread for a conversation. Could you maybe edit that post and open it back up?

And why can't we edit our own posts in this section?

We do not allow editing of posts so as to preserve a record of the conversation.

The thread was closed as it had run it's course. By that I mean it was turning into a lightning rod for trolling, and thus was no longer informative.

The thread was not jailed , so the information is still available. I am not sure anything is to be gained by re-opening the conversation.

Why would you like the thread re-opened, can you offer anything more substantial then you found it to be a decent conversation ?
