Many. many in my lifetime.
One of the most recent was when a 19 year old girl (honors graduate from HS still living with her dad and unable to find full time work)(says something about "honors"), told me she had disabled the protection programs on her dad's computer because they would not allow her to get on to some of her chat sites;
"well, all my friends are on there, so it has to be OK"
This after I spent nearly a week removing over 3000 bits of malware/spyware/keyloggers/trojans/virus files and getting the machine up and running FOR HER DAD.
Windows Box died again within 14 days. Dad went out and bought a laptop and keeps it locked in his truck. She can't get on line with the computer in the house!

Ok, really, a few weeks ago, I did an update at home, then went to the office. I needed to print a doc quick, and suddenly, no printer, nothing. FFS! So a open cups admin, delete printer, try reinstall, start checking forum for help.... After several cups of coffee, I realised I was connected to the wrong wireless network.... The one the printer wasn't on... Dammit!

(we sell wireless last mile access links, so we always have several wifi networks running at a time, and I was for a time using a test network to send and receive mail, as the general network had a firewall blocking IMAP...)

As one of the uncoolest kids in school, I was very thrilled when a girl I had a huge crush on actually went out of her way to walk up to me on my birthday and actually wish me a happy birthday.

I got so nervous, I said "Same to you."

She never talked to me after that.

When I used Windows for 13-14 years of my life.

When my mom's computer got messed up with viruses and **** and she blamed me because I was the only other person that used it and she didn't download any viruses.

When I had a friend buy me a butt load of beer, and decide after the first sip that I didn't like it.

When I threw the rest away instead of selling it to kids my age.

When I bought pot and threw it away because I was afraid of getting caught.

When I reinstall Ubuntu without backing up my data.

When my boss had someone go by my cubicle at 10 AM and report to him I was not there and then he proceeded to start yelling at me.
I asked if this person checked to see if my brief case was there. He said they did not. I said let me show you my screensaver.
He said I don't want to see your screensaver. I clicked on a button (Windows of course) and the screensaver kicked in and the
screen went blank instantly as if it was turned off. He never even so much as apologized for his WRONG accusations...
I was away talking to a co-worker about WORK and the screensaver kicked in after 10 minutes...

I have two, and you will have to excuse the use of teenage language for them.

First, yesterday, my friend and I where playing left 4 dead 2. At one part, when a hoard is scheduled to attack, he hit me with a molotov and ran away. I took out the enitre hoard by myself, and he was killed by a smoker.

Second, the other day, I accidentally set up a date with, arguably, the hottest girl in school. It took me three days to get up the nerve to get her number. The sheer ease of this had me confused for hours.

Gotta revive this thread.
Last night I stumbled upon an old copy of World Racing 2 that I haven't used in a couple of years (last time I played it, it was under XP).
Having nothing to do I decided to give it another go and installed it on my W7 (x64, unfortunately).

Reluctantly, I decided to install also the Starforce (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StarForce) drivers (not that I could do something different) otherwise I wouldn't have been able to play.

The installation completed but Windows whined about the Starforce drivers being unsigned (and this was the first facepalm).
Trying to start the game, it told me that I had to restart the system in order to load the disc check utility properly.

I did so.

After rebooting, Windows no longer worked (second facepalm).
Automatically the startup repair utility kicked in and eventually I was able to start the OS.

As soon as the OS started, Windows whined about the Starforce drivers being unsigned (again? third facepalm), and asked me to reboot.

After rebooting, Windows didn't work anymore once again (yeah, I was stuck in a loop).

I ended the night with another HUGE FACEPALM, then forced the machine off and went to bed.

I'm reinstalling Windows tonight because I feel it'll be faster than removing the whole Starforce crap from my machine. -_-'

I secretly have puppy 5 dual booting on four computers at the local community college, but a three months ago when I was young and stupid  I thought it would be a good idea to secretly dual boot ubuntu on two of the computers. Well I partitioned the first one 2GB and everything worked fine, for the next one I wanted to go 8GB and when I rebooted windows...."DLL ERROR!!! registry Failure!!! 'this computer already exists on network'" the registry fixed itself (which fixed the network error) by going to defaults but I needed to run a diagnostic to find the dll problem. Once the dll was isolated I copied it onto a flash drive and started my ubuntu live cd (the computers are running deepfreeze so you can't install the dll from windows) In a terminal, I navigated to the proper folder and deposited the dll. After rebooting, everything seemed okay and even faster since I deleted the startup links in the startup folder. It only was a 1 hour diversion and a great learning experience.....but I didn't learn well enough, after a few minutes of celebration I decided to perform that ubuntu installation. I sped through the installation and only after formating the drive did I realize that .........it was the wrong partition. I ran to the cafeteria, bought a monster energy drink, and came up with a plan of action...I cloned the installation of windows from one computer to another through a 4GB flash drive. So after 4 hours I ended up right back where I wanted to be 3 hours and 45 minutes ago, 2 partitioned computers ready for a ubuntu install. You would think I'd have learned by then, but I actually managed to successfully installed ubuntu, hide grub, and dual boot with windows. I was waaaay late to do any more and left for the weekend. so when I came back next week, the school had 'upgraded' the computers to windows 7 and all of that hard work was for nothing. Now that I'm three months wiser, I use puppy 5 which installs alongside windows, doesn't need partitioning, and has deb support... win win and win.

The lession is to not secretly install anything on anything, but if you do, use puppy linux 5 and know when your community college decides to upgrade the software.

To add to the facepalm, Ubuntu can do this too, it's called Wubi ;). Just pop in a live CD when you're booted into Windows, and the auto-run will bring up a menu to install inside of Windows.
