Sounds like you'd better install 10.04 instead of 10.10

10.10 is experimental and unstable 10.04 is the current "stable" version.
grab the super grub disk and burn the iso, it looks like your windows MBR got overwritten.

But, don't panic there's always a solution.
Don't do like I did and clean installed when I could have just asked some questions...

What do you mean by "inside Windows"? Do you mean that you tried to create a dual boot where you can choose Windows or Ubuntu at startup?

Please explain more details about how you installed Ubuntu to get to the point where the system only boots to the grub prompt.

''Inside'' Windows sounds like Wubi install to me. Can the OP confirm this or give us the correct name of the release installed??

Just boot windows, go to add/remove programs and double click on Ubuntu to uninstall. Wubi wasn't working with alpha2 when I tried it, and as others point out, you should not be using it - or if you are, post for help in the correct place.

If you can't boot windows either you need to repair your MBR but it sounds like you still can boot windows.

Once you've uninstalled, you can try 10.04 instead or 9.10 if that's not working.
