intltool

so, I'm trying to compile banshee but when i run ./configure i get this message:

checking for intltool >= 0.35.0... ./configure: line 4377: intltool-update: command not found
found
configure: error: Your intltool is too old. You need intltool 0.35.0 or later.

so i open up the package manager to check intltool and it's version 0.35.0. i don't know if i'm a bit dim and missing something obvious or if my computer is just angry with me or what.

if anybody has any ideas or insight it would really be appreciated

I am new to Ubuntu and Ekiga and i have run into several problems as well during the compiling.

About the problem u have mentioned , i have managed to solve it, so i think to save some time for you and for other people whom might run the same problem as i do.
i will just post all the problems and solutions.

When compiling Ekiga :

Error Message : Checking for PTLIB... configure: error: Package requirements (ptlib >= 2.0.0) were not met: No package 'ptlib' found

Solution:
(export package path where u save your stuff) -

$ export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=”home/lib/pkgconfig”

Error Message: configure: error: Your intltool is too old. You need intltool 0.35.0 or later.


Solution:$ sudo apt-get install intltool


Error Message: checking for GTK... configure: error: Package requirements (gtk+-2.0 >= 2.10.0) were not met: No package 'gtk+-2.0' found


Solution : $ sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev



If you are lazy and dont care about the memory space it might take.
Just try to install everything to cut down your "search n fix error" time.


This is my 2nd last command:

$sudo apt-get build-dep cheese

My last command (just copy and paste everything):

$ sudo aptitude install gnome-common libsasl2-dev gettext libgnome2-dev libldap2-dev libgconf2-dev autoconf libgnomeui-dev libxv-dev intltool automake1.8 scrollkeeper libxml-parser-perl evolution-data-server-dev libavahi-common-dev libavahi-client-dev libavahi-glib-dev gnome-doc-utils libsigc++-2.0-dev libdbus-glib-1-dev libebook1.2-dev

Other problems u might encounter (no package found):
Go to System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager
then search and find the name to see if anything can be installed.




After typing all these you should be able to make and make install. :popcorn:
U can call me dummy , but it is truth i only start using Ubuntu for days =X
