My girlfriend recently lost her iPod, so I've been thinking about buying her a new media player as an early christmas gift or something. However, I'd prefer not to buy an iPod, since those rarely work well with anything other than iTunes (she's on Ubuntu and abhors iTunes).
It needs to have at least 30gb of space (preferably more), it would be nice if it could play ogg (but that's not required), and it should mount as a regular usb drive. Any suggestions?
EDIT: I'm currently looking at a Cowon iAudio j3 32gb. It's pretty expensive, but with the ability to add in a memory card, that would allow for up to 64gb of storage - which is fine. Does anyone have this player? If so, could you let me know what your thoughts on it are? Does it have any strange quirks that I should know about?
