I have everything working now, but 10 minutes ago computer janitor thought it was a good idea to remove nvidia-current, of course I didn't notice until I checked my GPU temp:

installing and removing proprietary drivers aparently creates a void in the universe localized around my GPU sensor that removes the thermal energy from my card.:p;):D:)
