Edit: I found a guide. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=454217

I recently got a new monitor and I want to set my desktop resolution to 1280x768, but there isn't anything higher than 1024x768. How would I add this resolution? I know it has something to do with editing xorg.conf, but I don't know what to add/edit. How would I do this?

By the way here is the monitor's info:
Model: Toshiba 19LV91K

Mode: WXGA
Resolution: 1280x768
Refresh Rate: 60Hz

that depends on your video card and what displays it supports... what card do you have? if you have nvidia, i have posted instructions on how to do this in the linuxmint forums: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=46708
