I have internet connection through a proxy server .
When i start update manager then the message displayed is "the package information was last updated 16 days ago" which is about the time when I last used directy internet connection.
I have configured the file /etc/apt/apt.conf with my http, ftp proxy server username and password .
so I can run the synaptic package manager and can install the updates. But still this line keeps coming and the package information gets older and older.
what is needed to be done ??
