I just received my brand new E6410 laptop, which have i5 processor and wish to install ubuntu 10.04 on it.

I am wondering which should I choose: 32-bit or 64-bit?

Thanks!

Use 64bit to get the most out of your system. Run the LiveCD to make sure it agrees with your system before installing.

Thanks for your timely reply.

However, ubuntu suggested to install 32-bit system on desktop computer and 64-bit on servers. I am wondering whether 64-bit ubuntu installed on laptop could induce some problems.

It hasn't for me. I think they have that recommendation up because of all of the problems with Flash, but there are quite a few workarounds for that now. The recommendation has a bug report as most don't see the reason behind it. If you run 32bit you will still have a great system, but it will be a tad slower and won't be able to utilize the RAM if you have more than 3GB.
