Yes you guessed it, I am new to Ubuntu. I always wanted to try linux, and lets just say my start was extremely rocky!

- First my Pc is a HP dv6605us, I uped the memory to 4 gb, and I using a western Digital USB Flashdrive 60 GB.

- I started Unbuntu with all kinds of problems. First I tried the windows installer and ran into this.

I finally got my PC back to booting normally but of course I figured why not try it again? I burned an ISO, and used "try Ubuntu". Ubuntu recognized my WD 60 GB and I had some space so after 6 more tries and grub rescue> screens that went no where, I installed ubuntu on my wd60, figured out how to click my profile and sign in on the overlapping screen reduced the resolution to 800x600 and yea for me unbuntu works!!!

Now if I don't have my WD 60 GB plugged in can't boot my PC.

If I use fixmbr or bootrec in Vista will I lose Ubuntu? Do I want to use fixmbr? I would like if my USB HD isn't connected for my PC to boot to windows, if it is plugged in to get Ubuntu.

Any help to this problem would be appreciated!!
