While I've not had to do anything with my drivers so far, I am wondering what would be the benefit of installing DKMS, which has dependencies path and fakeroot. I've read somewhere in a thread response that it's supposed to handle driver issues after a kernel upgrade for you so that you don't have to break your neck doing it, but as I said, upgrading from the kernel contained in the 10.04 installer to 2.6.32-24-generic caused no problems with them. In fact, I don't think I even believe the things about having to reinstall wireless drivers after a kernel upgrade, because I have the Broadcom B43 driver, and it still works XD

So, what's up with DKMS, and what the heck is fakeroot? It sound like something I wouldn't want to just hand out root access willy-nilly.
