Whiskers on the chin alone is a Goatee. Add the mustache, and you're sporting a Van Dyke.

Most people mistakenly refer to that beard type as a goatee. Here's a chart which explains the various beard types.

I can't seem to grow a beard, I can manage to get a patch of hair on my chinney chin chin after a few weeks, but even if I left it alone for a while it wouldn't grow into a beard at all, but it would look horrible.

You're welcome, Al. I fly my freak flag with a Goatee. A mustache is too much work for me.

My Dad's silvery-white 3 inch goatee and handlebar mustache was pure class.

Grow some facial hair, Al. Express yourself.

My beard looks something like the attached file.

So where would I be on the chart?

Edit: When it is close to Christmas time, children look at me in the stores, then say to their parents, "Look, Santa".

Don't need a chart for that one. That's just the plain simple "full beard".

If I don't shave I think my will be Van Dyke. But I had to shave as the weather here is too hot to have them.

The Community Chat area is for lighthearted and enjoyable discussions, like you might find around a water cooler at work.

Almost any non-tech-support topic may be discussed here.

I'd say this thread is particularly "lighthearted".

Lies! Filthy Lies! I offer as proof-

Thats a 'Van Dyke' and there is no beard there. :lolflag:

A beard is an instant +100% to your console using skils. BTW, dont annoy the Old_Gray_Wolf, hes always looking for people who are naughty, or nice, and with that amount of console skillz, he is the deadliest person on this thread. :lolflag:

BTW, that is why I do hardware, I cant stand having a hairy face. 3 days growth is as far as I can get.

Thanks dmizer, I'll rest assured that each morning after arising & doing the shower & sh*t routine, upon observing my face in the mirror I will now know the name that all who see me in the street call my ever changing beard. ;)

When you're busy geeky things you don't always have the time or inclination to shave.

Mrs Lisati gets on my case if my whiskers get too bushy.

Mrs. Handy, has been known to do the big snip with a pair of scissors whilst I sleep!

I'm always grateful on such occasions that I hadn't made her particularly angry the night before, or who knows how much of what ever she may have decided to dramatically shorten!? :---)

That sir, is an epic chin curtain ... provided you consider me and/or my attached chart an authority on ALL beard types. ;)

Funny how hair on your face can have its own alcohol problem!

Buddy, your stereotypical chauvinism is something that makes me both laugh & continue to have fear of humanities general stupidity...

Even though your post was (hopefully) motivated by a humorous intent, the archetypical trappings that you were drawing on still hold, even though the percentage of bearded individuals you are drawing on is minuscule & irrelevant when compared to those without beard that do the same things.

The truly archetypical element, is the element that you presented in your attitude.

Well, that was certainly fun...
OP has marked the thread [SOLVED]Things are starting to get "hairy", so perhaps it's time to put it to bed...
