View Full Version : [HUMOUR] German OpenOffice sees unemployed people as tight-fisted, lazy and useless

Disclaimer: This is obviously a joke.

While I was working on my CV in OpenOffice today, I went to enter "arbeitsuchend", the German politically correct word for "unemployed" (actually, unemployed in German is "arbeitslos", but this is a taboo word - we don't say that we have no work, we say that we're looking for work)

"Arbeitsuchend" is a fairly common word in German, but the OO spellchecker didn't seem to recognise it. Happens often enough. The suggestions that the spellchecker came up with, however, were absolutely hilarious.

For those that don't speak German, the words in the suggestions list mean:
arbeitsunfähig - incapable of working
kreditsuchend - desiring a loan
arbeitscheu - work-shy
arbeitsaufwendig - needs a lot of effort

The cheek of it!
