View Full Version : Is it possible to run the Netbook Remix Launcher from 10.04 under 10.10 Alpha?

I really am not getting on with Unity - don't get me wrong, I'm happy to try it every now and then, but I'm finding the layout (with the bar down the left) doesn't work the way I do, and I found having the task switcher at the top more productive. I realise that the Alpha is all about making sure that the functionality works, and that Unity is being designed as we go along, but I'd really rather use the older netbook remix launcher.

Can anyone suggest how to install and use that launcher, while still trying the rest of 10.10's install?

i don't know about from 10.10, but you can from 10.04 using the unity ppa.

No, I mean the other way around, I want to use the 10.04 launcher, not the 10.10 one.

I'm sorry I was a bit abrupt, I was replying from my phone...

I'm currently running the 10.10 alpha and I'd like to use the 10.04 netbook desktop configuration, but keep the rest of the 10.10 OS.

I understand that it's probably not going to be a supported configuration, but I much prefer it as my desktop over the 10.10 launcher right now.

I'm not sure if Unity has completely replaced the "old" netbook launcher. However, I'm sure there is a way around it, this is linux after all. You may be better off asking this in the Maverick Tesing forum...
