How about the forums open up a section called bitch and moan..

I can say that I am miffed at 10.4 right now.

I posted a thread saying that I was disappointed with 10.4. and for that everyone started with...
Linux is free so you can't complain
You shouldn't have automatic updates on
You should report bugs
There are 20,000 things to update. Not all will be 100%
And my favorite!

You shouldn't have automatic updates on mission critical machine.

I am not flying to the moon!

I use my computer for work.

OK.
I did not have automatic updates switched on ages ago.
BUT.
If you update your system with or without automatic updates you pick up crappy update one way or another every so often.

I have two partitions, Ubuntu on both of them. One I use as a backup in case of the borked updates.
(Anyone remember the lovely X-server update a while ago?)
My actual data. I now keep it on an external hard drive.

Now.
I have just had to reinstall my system because of a screwed automatic update.
Having reinstalled 10.4 My Nvidia drivers have gone back to where they were. I.E. My computer shuts down after first boot up. Reboot after that and it is fine.
So now.
I have to trawl back through the forums to sort out video drivers that were working.

BUT.
The biggest bitch.

Having to sit and smile through gritted teeth (I have work at 4 tomorrow morning) and say thank you all the time and not having anywhere to bitch and gripe.

No.
This does not make me feel better.
But, like I say. How about a new forum topic. Where people can go rant about things that don't work are a pain the the...
Or a just disappointed with where this is all going.
That way all the people who want to say things like "don't have automatic updates switched on" don't have to go in that forum and pass their lovely helpful comments.

For the record.
IF you do not have automatic updates switched on.
AND you do something like, updates. What is to stop you picking up a bad update?

Rant not over.
And not feeling any better.

I do like Ubuntu.
It has been a solid working machine in the past.
Maybe I notice issues more often now I use the machine and have deadlines.
Now that it is not a hobby machine.

Seriously.
How about giving us somewhere to vent.

This is not Apple.

I will shut up and go away now.

I use gnumeric/glabels for my job at the moment. I have a separate partition with debian stable on it that I -only- use for my work, so I don't have to worry about problems. Debian stable also is basically complete so updates are rarely necessary.
