Hi,

I am trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop edition 32 bit using a usb stick.
I downloaded the file from http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download, and have checked the md5sum of the downloaded file.
Then I made the usb bootable using universal USB installer (have also tried Unetbootin). After restarting, it starts to install but always gets stuck at Step 3, where it asks for the keyboard layout. It simply do not go to Step 4. It also detects an application problem "Sorry the program "parted server" closed unexpectedly". I tried to report it, but it does not reports the error.
The live version seems to be working fine. I can run firefox and some simple applications on it.

What may be the mistake or problem?
Thanks for helping,
Amber Jain

If you just copied the disto to the jump drive it may not work like you want it to. There is a nice utility that you can use via windows or linux called LiLi (Linux Live usb creator) that will make a usb/jump drive bootable using any distro of your choice. Give it a shot. Here is a link http://www.linuxliveusb.com/
