The Firefox 3.6.7 update this morning disabled most of the plug-ins that were installed and working. This has happened a few times and is a real problem for those of us who depend on the plug-ins to perform our work.

Yes, I suppose it would be possible to manually predetermine the compatibility of each plug-in prior to installing an update. But that is very time consuming, painful, and prone to error.

There needs to be a pre-install process that will do those checks and warn the user of any incompatibilities - then allow them to choose whether to install the update.

I never have understood why the current "shotgun" approach was chosen. It breaks many things.

The same thing happened on both of our machines.

I cannot even click a link.

I had to use konqueror to get here. I really do not know what to do.

I was thinking about disabling all of my plugins. This is the first time this happened to me. I am using Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty.

Any help who knows what to do?
