Default userid/password

When I run the Ubuntu Desktop 10.04 CD, I don't get the option to choose between testing or installing. It just boots with a login screen. I've already tried to login with userid ubuntu and Ubuntu with blank password but can't logon.

What is going wrong because I don't get the option to install at boot and I can't logon either ?

somthing is seriously wrong there. try reburning the disk or pull down a new copy of the iso. also you may want to use the boot option to load memtestx86 and make sure your ram is functioning correctly.
