I never did quite understand why this happends some times. but I'm trying to install kubuntu and it keeps going in to the live os. From there I know it can be installed but its not getting far enough. My guess is do to my vga card. I'd just like to install from outside the kernal like normal, can that be done?

not really enough information there to help - what do you mean by " it keeps going in to the live os. From there I know it can be installed but its not getting far enough"

what are the symptoms - any error messages - what do you see on the screen? How far through the live CD install process have you been through?

It does this

http://sjsarette.blogspot.com/2010/04/kubuntu-1004-setup-guide.html

I want it to do this

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Installing-Ubuntu-9-10-126370.shtml

Some times when I install kubuntu I get more of a traditionaly install, from the CD to install, not first load the Live os in to a desktop then install.

As to what I get it depends. Once I got to the desktop, right now I have a black screen, before this the monitor just when off. IMO there is no point to load the desktop to install an os your only asking for troubles.

::update:: I was able to click on the install Icon this time and that turned the monitor off, but I heard some tune from the speakers. So I guess it decided to charge refresh rates on its own and not my monitor cant handle it.

Ok change the vid out and it works not, but I'd still vary much like to know if there is a way to install like the second link is installing. Does it depend on the version .10 vs .04 or something?

Can you press f6 and choose nomodeset? That worked for my nvidia and I understand it works for some others as well.
