View Full Version : Pass hidden variables from shell to CGI?

Hi, hope im in the right section....

Im trying to automate some web searches to run on cron... and was wondering if it was possible for shell to pass hidden variables to a server side cgi (and then i retrieve results with wget or something). im pretty sure there is a way to do it from perl, but was just wondering if there was another, simpler way.

basically, I want to select forms automatically based on variables read in the shell script- maybe from a config file. Ive got this all working with one site which doesn't hide its url query string- but on this other site the hidden variables and post action forms are doing their jobs keeping me out!
