Excuse the newb question here. I'm marginally new with ubuntu but am extremely excited to have kicked the windows disease.

I've just plugged in a second monitor today and have configured it using the nVidia X Server Settings as such:

Configuration: TwinView

Left monitor-
Resolution: Auto
Position: Absolute +0+0
X Screen Number: 0
MetaMode: 1

Right monitor-
Resolution: Auto
Position: Absolute +1280 +0
X Screen Number: 0
MetaMode: 1

The two desktops work well with one another and I can "hang" a window between the two where it is straddling the divide between the monitors. My problem is that I cannot maximize a window (say Chromium) and have it blow up to the full size of both monitors. It'll just maximize on the window it's currently open it. I can accept that if it's the way it is to work, but my other issue is that I cannot have one large wallpaper cover both screens. I can only get it to where there is the same wallpaper on both screens, but doubled.

I appreciate the help, and thanks. I'm sure I'll be asking a ton more questions as I integrate into this.

Oh, if it helps, I'm running 10.04.

Thanks
