New2 ubuntu. I recently decided to make the switch to ubuntu and have had 9.10 running on my old PC for about 2-3 months now, and it ran beautifully. Yesterday I decided to go ahead and upgrade to 10.04 and what a performance hit that was. Everything is like it is running slo-mo stop motion. I am not sure if this could be a hardware related issue, so here are the specs. Intel D875PBZ Mainboard with 3.4GHz Prescott, 2GB Corsair XMS PC3200, Promise SATA3.0 controller, WD Raptor HDD, ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512 MB AGP, Samsung 223 IDE DVD/RW, and Soundblaster Live! Platinum. Thinking it might just be a graphics driver issue, I tried searching for and installing the ATI proprietary driver, but no luck. Have been searching and trying numerous things for several days now with no luck yet. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
