View Full Version : Um...I found an odd glitch with the Compiz sphere

I was trying to hook up my laptop to my HDTV, and I was messing around with the ATI Control Center options and I only managed to get it to output the whole screen to the TV at the purple Ubuntu loading screen, then only half the screen would show up on the TV, and as I was changing options it made the screen really messed up and my dock disappeared. So then I thought that turning the Compiz sphere might help, the thing is it turned into a hypersphere and I couldn't tell what workspace I was on. It was really trippy!

A hypersphere? as in this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/db/Hypersphere_coord.gif ? or something else?

Do you have a screenshot?

Yeah kind of, but it looked more like this (http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.miqel.com/images_1/random_image/r1/BGtori.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.miqel.com/random_images/fascinating-visual-chaos-3.html&usg=__jDCiExF7u2GoGh95ze5fPbk0aQQ=&h=512&w=640&sz=22&hl=en&start=0&tbnid=vRAEVYiK5ubWKM:&tbnh=120&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhypersphere%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26 biw%3D1196%26bih%3D704%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=407&vpy=243&dur=3103&hovh=201&hovw=251&tx=44&ty=219&ei=gTVGTOvLCZOksQPFocitAg&page=1&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:0&biw=1196&bih=704)

I didn't take a screenshot because it was late when it happened and I was just trying to get the second monitor to work. I'll try recreating it tonight.

Sounds more like a glitch with your ATI drivers than a Compiz sphere glitch.

Yeah, but it was one of those "this is actually awesome" kind of glitches than an annoying glitch.

Why do you thought that?
