Are there plans to include gloobus preview by default in future ubuntu releases? It's the most fantastic and simple app I've used in quite a while... If you could incorporate it into nautilus like the preview pane in Win7- but better, you'd have something amazing.

Last I knew there were legal concerns preventing any integration of gloobus into Nautilus/GNOME.

Last time i tried it was a half baked copy of Quicklook from OSX. A number of thing are missing and it hasn't seen feature development in some months.

Lol. Those were like the lamest things I ever saw! I was actually embarrassed for the actors.

I know, it's painful to watch. But truth be told, I do actually use windows, maybe even more than I do Ubuntu, since I have to use Windows for work, and I'm here 8 hrs (give or take) per day, where while at home, I'm not on the computer for very long at a time.

But, to help out, I run Ubuntu in a VM here at work, (like I am now) to help get me through the day...

I never heard of it until recently, and the ubuntu blogs have been talking it up like crazy... I put it off for a while, but finally decided to just give it a try, and in nautilus elementary, it works really nicely...at least so far...

Well as I said, there are a number of features missing. I used Quicklook and let me tell you, it was amazing. It's was smooth, fast and beautiful. Gloobus still doesn't have controls for the video, all the floating toolbars in fullscreen mode are broken etc. and it has been like that for months now.

I have been using Gloobus Preview (http://www.webupd8.org/2010/04/how-to-install-gloobus-preview-in.html) with Nautilus elementary (http://elementary-project.com/news/nautilus-in-elementary/) for a while now and it works great. All you have to do is use the Spacebar once you have selected a file to preview it.

Video and Music works fine.

No they're not? Fullscreen mode works fine. There maybe only a few controls at the moment, but what they have got works.
Here's a screenshot of it in fullscreen.

I guess we'll just wait until Elementary OS becomes official?

That is not how mine looks. I must be running an older version then.

I'm running 0.4.5 from the ppa. What version are you running?

Same here? 0.4.5 but mine is from the Elementary Desktop PPA (https://launchpad.net/~elementaryart/+archive/elementarydesktop).

I did build it into my distro from the start, so that might be why it works. I never had gnome-nautilus installed on my system as I started with a MinimalCD (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD) and put nautilus-elementary straight on there. So you may have some old config files for gnome-nautilus that are making it play up.

That's just a guess tho.

Or it might be because it's a slightly different build from the Elementary Desktop PPA (https://launchpad.net/~elementaryart/+archive/elementarydesktop) then what is used in the gloobus ppa.

Fixed. Had to delete my config file. It still feels unpolished. There are visual bugs. But it is an improvement on how it looked before.

Did you see the option to use your gtk theme? I think that makes it look a lot better.

What legal concerns?

Apple is very defensive of its "look and feel." They've sent cease and desist letters to projects aiming to duplicate their UI before (Y'z dock, anyone?), and GNOME is a pretty big target.

Yours looks beautiful. Mine with Ambiance looks kinda crappy. But I think it's mostly due to bugs. And god does it run slowly when playing a video. It's a slideshow fest.

It would be super awesome if Jordi would fix that. I think I'm going to file some bugs.

BTW the UbuntuOne devs are interested at using Gloobus when two files are conflicting.
