"Group By" in "Define Views" in Evolution

I'm just wondering if the "Group By" option does anything when defining custom views in Evolution. For example, if I create a custom view and then Group By Date or From, the view looks the same as if I had no Group By set at all.

Is Group By unimplemented in Evolution, or have I missed the intent? I'm using an up-to-date Evolution from the Lucid release repo, version 2.28.3.
